Harry Simpson, eat your heart out baby. Look at the size of these windchimes!!!
The Chicken Ranch Dance Hall
Featuring the Wesley Westbrook Band. These guys were great. Too bad there was not a bigger crowd because it's a great place and we loved the band. Staff there was very friendly too!

Local Wildlife & Fishing
We are discovering that fishing in Texas can be quite hazardous. Poisonous fish abound, and Pelicans like to try to eat your bait fish!!!! Wow, you never know what will happen...

Fishing
Note: if you scroll down to the post called "moving," I just updated it with pictures on 8/12/12.
We got our fishing licenses this weekend and headed off to a few spots:
Packery Channel (over 2 days)

We found a spot that was not very crowded and set up our gear.
Here are some more birds that were hanging around.

Moving again...
So you can ignore our last post about what our house looks like. We are being forced to move because the owner (who lives in California) defaulted on his mortgage and this house was sold in a foreclosure auction this week. Seriously? Do you know how hot it is right now?
But, will it be a "seamless professional move"????

Exploring the area
I'm trying to get good pictures of pelicans, but not having much luck.
Here's a start, but I'm determined to get better ones.
Check out how many are in the flock! (And check out how empty the beach is at noon!)
These two birds were involved in a fencing match.
Little by little, we are checking out the area. Here are some cool sights that we've seen.

Check out the free car ferry that runs continuously between Aransas Pass and Port Aransas. We were seriously impressed by the speed and efficiency of the ferry service.

One thing I never thought I'd see on a beach:
We went to the beach to watch the sun rise this morning. Shortly after daybreak, something interesting appeared... as always, click to enlarge....
Now we know why all the garbage is on the ground around the dumpster. For a change, it wasn't people, but a hungry coyote.

If you want a seamless professional move...
If you choose B: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DMUGabJ8Mw
Yes, we did choose B.
Starting with the first moving van being towed away....
That put us about 6 hours behind schedule, which carried over through 7/18 when Ron had to start working a half day later than scheduled.
Amy gets to hold the falling objects as we try to open the door without more falling out. Fun times.

Moving
Headed to Corpus Christi! Here are some pictures we took while visiting our future hometown.
The Delta luggage guys had a little trouble, and this gave us a little delay.
Some people would have you believe that Texas is all "brown" and "dry." Not true in early July.
Second night in Texas, La Playa Restaurant. They have live Mariachi on Friday nights.
On Saturday we secured a place to live. On Sunday, we hit the beach.
You can camp on the beach!
We practically had the beach to ourselves. Look both ways:
See the crab?
A park downtown.
This is a fishing pier / park with places to wash & cut your fish.
From the top, you can see huge jellyfish floating in the water. Oh no!
On our last night, we went to San Antonio to be tourists at the River Walk and the Alamo. Wow, it's way hotter in San Antonio!!! The Embassy Suites on the RivewWalk was excellent.
The Alamo.
Dining at Rio, Rio.
Kind of reminds us of Key West... birds roaming the outdoor restaurants.
And, sweating hot weather.
